  • Comment: Driver destroyed device!

I've recently had a headcrash on my old 40GB drive, then I decided to download OpenSuSE 10.2 which has the new 2.6.18-Kernel. After I downloaded and copied the Firmware, it worked like a charm, even better than on Windows (no more disconnects at 100% CPU). So be careful with previous kernels!

Logged In: YES user_id=94015 What about the second (non-functioning) device? Do you still have it at hand? Could you provide output of "dmesg" after connecting the device? Does the "resetted" device work on Linux now, too?.

The Device didn't overheat. I really don't know how I've "reset" the other device, it just worked again after some time (several weeks), first only on my own Windows System, a few days later it worked on others. I haven't got any further info as this happened some time ago and I don't have any logs.

  • Comment: zd1211.ath.cx driver perf worse than newer ZyDAS driver

Logged In: YES user_id=94015 The community driver is based on an older version of the ZyDAS driver. Merging the newer ZyDAS changes can be done but is a bit problematic right now as there are some update collisions concerning endianess which nobody so far cared to fix.

  • Comment: Driver destroyed device!

Logged In: YES user_id=94015 There's a firmware bug that may cause overheating. As the device firmware (in contrast to the driver itself) can't be changed we have to wait for new ZyDAS versions of the firmware. However, this is the only report of severe problems so far. So I do ask how you did the "reset" on one of your devices. Also, some more info (dmesg output...) would be good. I...

  • Comment: In kernel can not find the device?

Logged In: YES user_id=94015 Could not load firmware file zd1211/zd1211b_ub. Error number -2 this error message should be pretty clear...? Read this: http://zd1211.ath.cx/wiki/DriverRewrite#Firmware.

  • Driver destroyed device!

Hi, I've got the X-Micro XWL-11GUZX. Running on SUSE 10.1, I first tried the ZyDAS Driver, but it didn't compile well. Then I tried this one, it compiled nicely. I wanted to connect to my WPA-secured network, but after some tries it disconnected and didnt do anything, I replugged it but the system didn't detect it anymore. I plugged it in on my Windows machine and it didn't work, it said...
